The Kirigami Project - Week 17 - Fiddleheads
Nothing really says Spring to me quite like fiddleheads. Tulips are lovely, daffodils delightful... but when the fiddleheads suddenly sprout, Spring has officially arrived (with a vengeance).
This is, perhaps, the result of one too many Springs spent head down in a wooded glen, walkman blaring, plucking tightly coiled (but not too tightly coiled) fiddleheads until baskets overflowed, fingernails were firmly caked with dirt and, when you closed your eyes, the green buggers filled your minds eye.
So, you see, though I've given up on the picking, I will always associate those gentle green spirals with Spring. This design incorporates those classic fiddlehead spirals of unfurling fronds - which are a little tricky to cut, but well worth a try!
