Here's simple washi tape DIY which is pretty and useful at the same time.
You know that feeling of getting a new set of washi tape? You really (really) want to play with it, but, at the same time, you don't want to waste it. Why not make yourself a bookmark?
It's a simple project which doesn't use a ton of tape or other materials, but will make you smile whenever you use it.
You'll need washi tape, card stock in a neutral colour and a pair of scissors.
Cut a strip of card stock into the desired size. Mine are 1.5" x 8.5" (35mm x 215mm) and are perfect for a trade paperback / hardcover / guidebook. If you tend to read paperbacks, you'll want to cut your bookmark a bit shorter.
I simply cut a 1.5" strip off of a standard 8.5x11" piece of card stock. Easy!
Use the washi tape to decorate your plain bookmark as you please. Don't forget the back - 2-sided bookmarks are prettier!
These bookmarks are also a great opportunity to practice different techniques and designs. You can use a lot of tape, or just a little. Try wrapping a continuous strip around the bookmark on an angle or just add a few strips at the top.
Sweet and simple, right?
These bookmarks are great to have on hand or make a nice addition when you're gifting a book.
Grab your favourite bookmark and a really good book - now you can get lost in the book without losing your page!
