Back to Basics - Washi Tape Flags
Did you indulge in any sweet treats this week? We whipped up a batch of our favourite Chocolate Cupcakes - sweet & simple (and quickly becoming a Valentine's tradition). Here's a way to fancy those cupcakes up:
Washi tape flags are a quick but striking way to dress up your favourite cupcakes (or whoopee pie, donuts, etc). Simple grab a toothpick and a piece of washi tape (or two). Cut a piece of tape twice as long as your desired flag size, fold it over the toothpick. Stick & snip the ends into the shape you desire. Try doubling up on flags for an extra-fancy look!
Why make washi tape flags? Well, to begin with, they're adorable, but also they're functional! Don't have a cupcake carrying case but need to take your cupcakes to go? The flags will keep plastic wrap from ruining your icing. Clever, right?
And, while you've got your tape out, you can always whip up custom cupcake wrappers. Simply print off a cupcake wrapper template (like this one from Skip to My Lou), cover in washi tape and then cut out. Easy!
My favourite ways to use washi tape are often the simplest, so I thought it was time to look back at some of the sweet and simple ways to use our favourite tape! Our new series - Back to Basics with Washi Tape - will give you ideas for using these multi-tasking tapes. Some of which you may have already seen and some which might leave you asking "why didn't I think of that?"
Do you have any simple but clever uses for washi tape? Share them with us in the comments, post an image to our Facebook page or send a tweet our way. We're always listening!
